We represented a thoracic surgeon in Louisiana who was suffering from a severe case of diabetes. The insurer claimed that the surgeon’s pre-disability occupation was actually that of a medical consultant. By making that claim, the insurer was trying to re-define the occupation as a way of denying the disability insurance benefits promised in the insurance policy.
We fought hard on behalf of the doctor, taking on the various issues and arguments advanced by them. The matter resulted in us obtaining $1.4 million of disability benefits for the client.
